Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Systems Level 3

Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Systems Level 3

15 DAYS

This course is for anyone seeking employment within the air conditioning, refrigeration and associated building services industry. The course will prepare you for future domestic, commercial or industrial roles. The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to install, service, maintain, commission, de-commission, recover and leak checking of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump (RACHP) equipment that contains refrigerants classified as fluorinated Greenhouse Gases.

Who is the course aimed at?

This course is designed for both engineers with experience, and also for new entrants from a non-engineering background who want to pursue a new career as a Service Engineer.

For those without an engineering background, it is recommended that you have a minimum grade C at GSCE Maths.

Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Systems

Understand and carry out “Oxy Fuel” brazing techniques for RACHP Systems Practically orientated course including theoretical elements for safe and competent refrigeration brazing techniques covering a range of refrigerant line diameters, brazing materials/techniques to attain leak-proof joints. Attendees will be instructed in jointing of dissimilar metals, utilising a variety of brazing alloys, silver solders, and fluxes. Training and instruction will be given in the use, transportation, storage, and testing of Oxy fuel equipment to ensure safe working practices. Leads to 5 year Certification on attainment of pass grade.
F-Gas: Install, Service, Maintain Recovery, Decommission and Leakage Checking of Systems (Category I) This is the mandatory assessment for any persons directly or indirectly connected with refrigerants. The course covers all types of refrigerants, the ozone layer, global warming and other environmental issues, health & safety regulations and codes of practice. Practical elements include recovery, pressure leak testing, evacuation and charging. Meets the requirements for mandatory training under the F-Gas Regulations EN 517/2014. Full training in all practical disciplines will be given throughout. Leads to 5 year Certification on attainment of pass grade.
Understanding the properties and use of flammable refrigerants in accordance with ACRIB specification This course covers the use of flammable refrigerants within RACHP systems. Understand the different classes of flammability as recognised by legislation, safety standards such as BS EN 378, ISO5149, BS EN 60335. Understand the specific requirements for installing, servicing and testing RACHP system. Leads to 5 year Certification on attainment of pass grade. Installation, Commissioning and Service Commercial CO2 refrigeration systems Along with the increased use of flammable refrigerants, the phase down of HFCs is increasing the demand for CO2 refrigerating systems. This course will give attendees a thorough understanding of transcritical refrigeration systems as well as allowing them to have an awareness of the specific requirements of working with high pressure refrigerants. This qualification leads to 5 year Certification on attainment of pass grade.
Service and Maintain RACHP Electrical Systems including Safe Isolation of Single/Multi-phase systems Designed to cover the Safe Isolation of electrically powered or controlled equipment, identifying types of Instrumentation used in Installation and Testing of electrically operated RACHP components. Terminating and Installation Practices with an emphasis on Electrical Safety. Gain knowledge of fundamental principles including both AC and DC supplies. Be able to troubleshoot and solve faults within electrical components of RACHP systems, including pumps, fans, compressors and controls, etc. Understand and know current regulations and relevant codes of practice to safely conduct electrical works on RACHP systems.
This course ensures delegates are up-to-date with the latest industry Regulation on wiring and the safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems and proves competency in such. This is industry standard requirements for people working with electrical supply circuits.
